Microwave Fruit Jam

INGREDIENTS

  • 450 g or 1lb soft fruit, washed
  • 450 g or 1lb caster sugar
  • 2 x 15 ml or 2 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1x 5 ml  or 1 tsp butter

 MICROWAVE FRUIT JAM METHOD:

Place all ingredients in a large bowl.

Heat on HIGH for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, and continue to cook until the sugar has melted.

Wash down any sugar crystals from around the bowl. Bring mixture to a boil and continue to cook until the setting point is reached. Leave to cool, stir, then pot, seal, and label.

For plum or damson jam halve and stone fruit. Put in a mixing bowl with 300 ml ( ½ pt ) water. Heat on HIGH for 10 minutes, when the fruit should be soft. Continue as above.

Power: HIGH

Makes 2 x 450 g ( lb ) jar

Cooking time: 15-20 mins.

Dish: Large mixing bowl

Note:- use strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, etc. 

-frozen fruit can be used, increase the time to allow the fruit to defrost.
