Microwave Caramel Oranges
INGREDIENTS
- 4 seedless oranges for the caramel
- 100 g or 4 oz caster sugar
- 50 ml or 2 oz cold water
- 50 ml or 2 oz warm water
Microwave Caramel Oranges Method:
Put the sugar and cold water in a dish and cook on HIGH for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure the sugar has dissolved. The sugar syrup should be a rich brown caramel color. Carefully add the warm water, reheat for 2-3 minutes until the caramel has dissolved.
Thinly grate the rind of I orange, then remove the skin, pith, and outer membrane from the orange, leaving the flesh exposed. Cut into slices then hold them together with a cocktail stick. Arrange oranges in a serving dish, sprinkle over the grated rind, then pour over the caramel. Chill well. Decorate with pulled sugar threads.
