Microwave French Onion Soup

INGREDIENTS

  • 225 g  onions
  • 50 g  butter
  • 1 x 15 ml flour
  • I liter hot beef stock
  • salt and black pepper
  • bay leaf

 To serve: 

  • 25 g French bread, lightly toasted 
  • grated cheese

Microwave French Onion Soup Recipe:

Peel onions and slice into rings. Put onions and butter in a large casserole dish, cover with a lid, and cook on HIGH for 5-7 minutes. Stir in the flour. Gradually add the hot stock stirring well. Season and add the bay leaf. Re-cover and cook on HIGH for 10-12 minutes. 

Remove the bay leaf. Float a piece of French bread on the top of each serving. sprinkle with cheese and reheat 4 at a time for 1 minute.

Power: HIGH

Serves 4

Cooking time: 15-17 mins

Dish: 2 liters ( 4 pt ) casserole
