FRUIT CHUTNEY
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 tomatoes
- 3 large onions
- 3 Granny Smith apples
- 4 cups brown vinegar
- 500g brown sugar
- 1 cup sultanas
- 1/2 cup currents
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 1 tablespoon cooking salt
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
FRUIT CHUTNEY RECIPE:
Peel tomatoes, chop roughly onions, peel, core, and chop apples Combine all ingredients in a large pan or boiler, stir over heat until sugar is dissolved Bring to boil, reduce heat. simmer uncovered for approximately 2 1/2 hours or until chutney is thick Chut ney will need to be stirred occasionally toward the end of the cooking time Pour into hot stressed jars, cool, and seal.
Makes about 5 cups
