GLAZED ONIONS
YOU WILL NEED:
- 500g ( 11b ) small pickling onions
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1½ tablespoons sugar
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 bay leaf salt
GLAZED ONIONS RECIPE:
Place unpeeled onions in a bowl, cover with boiling water,
and stand for 5 minutes. Drain onions; using a small sharp knife, peel
onions taking care to leave ends intact so onions do not fall apart during
cooking.
Combine oil, vinegar, sugar, cloves, and bay leaf in a saucepan. Add peeled onions, cover saucepan; simmer very gently for 20 minutes or until onions are tender and the sauce turns syrupy. Season with salt.
