 STIR-FRIED CHILLI GARLIC STEAK WITH POTATOES

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried shrimp paste
  • 4 baby potatoes
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 500g rump steak, thinly sliced
  • 6 green shallots, chopped
  • 3 cups ( 240g ) shredded Chinese cabbage
  • 125g bean sprouts
  • 375g packet of fresh egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce

STIR-FRIED CHILLI GARLIC STEAK WITH POTATOES METHOD:

Blend or process onion, garlic, chilli flakes sugar, and paste until smooth. Boil, steam or microwave potatoes until just tender; cut into quarters. Cut tomatoes into wedges. 

Heat half the oil in a wok or pan, add onion mixture, stir - fry for 2 minutes. Add steak to wok in batches, stir-fry until well browned and tender; remove from pan. 

Heat remaining oil in a wok, add shallots cabbage, sprouts, and tomatoes, stir - fry until cabbage is wilted. Return steak to wok with noodles, stir in sauces, stir - fry until heated through. Serve with potatoes.

Serves 4.

Note: Recipe best made close to serving.

Freeze: Not suitable.

Microwave: Potatoes are suitable.
