POWER SETTINGS

Your microwave oven is equipped with variable power settings: HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, DEFROST, SIMMER, and WARM. While many foods can be heated on HIGH ( full power ), certain types of foods, milk for example, will benefit from heating with a reduced amount of energy over a slightly longer time. This variety of settings offers you complete flexibility in microwave cooking. Press the Power pad for the number of times indicated to select desired power.

POWER / TIME PROGRAMMED COOKING

With your oven, you can program up to three stages at one time. Once programmed your oven will automatically proceed from the first to the last stage of the program. This is especially helpful when cooking casseroles, stews, pot roasts, etc. The ingredients are first brought to a boil at HIGH power, then simmered at a lower power to allow flavors to blend or meat to tenderize. Stand time can be programmed into your oven. The Delay / Stand pad can also be set so the oven will switch on after the delayed time has elapsed.

We have included a variety of recipes that benefit from three (two) stage program cooking. These instructions can be adapted for your own recipes. Just follow the basic information below:

Use HIGH Power to bring ingredients to a boil. Set SIMMER Power for the second cooking power when cooking fewer tender cuts of meat. These need about 20 to 30 minutes per 450 g (1 lb. ) to cook until tender and should be cooked with a minimum of 300 ml ( ½ pint ) liquid per 450 g / 1 lb. meat.

Choose LOW for the second - stage of cooking when blending flavors. Timing for this second cooking is mostly a matter of preference. Program the necessary STAND time at the end of each recipe. If a recipe calls for " STAND covered " this step can be done in the microwave oven. It is not necessary to cover the food if the recipe was heated uncovered.

Use WARM to keep hot foods at serving temperatures. To ensure the best results, it may be necessary to stir or turn a portion of food over once or twice during the first or second program timing. These instructions are given, if needed, in each recipe.
