ITALIAN BOLOGNESE SAUCE
YOU WILL NEED:
- 750g ( 112lb ) minced steak
- 1 large onion
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 400g can peel tomatoes
- 4 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- 1 liter ( 4 cups ) water
- salt,
- pepper
- grated parmesan cheese
ITALIAN BOLOGNESE SAUCE RECIPE:
Peel onion, and chop finely. Cook in heated oil until
the onion is golden. 2. Add steak; cook well, mashing with a fork occasionally
to break up any lumps; cook until steak browns well. Pour off any surplus fat.
Push canned tomatoes with their liquid through a
sieve; add to the pan with herbs, tomato paste, water, salt, and pepper.
When sauce comes to a boil, reduce heat, and cook
very gently for 1 % to 2 hours, uncovered, or until nearly all the liquid has
evaporated. Arrange hot, well-drained spaghetti in individual bowls. Spoon in
the sauce. Top with grated parmesan cheese.
