GIRL'S DRESSING UP CAKE METHOD:
Color 410g ( 13oz ) of sugar paste blue. Roll out 375g (
12oz ) and cover the cake board Trim the crust from the cake and slice the top
flat. Cut the cake in half and sandwich it with buttercream. Spread a layer of
buttercream over the cake, then position it on the board
Color 500g ( 1 lb ) of sugar paste golden brown. Using a ruler to measure exactly the size required, roll out and cut squares to fit the two ends of the dressing Up box. Crimp around the edge using the serrated crimping tool, then fill in with crimped lines. Carefully position the two ends of the cake. Cover the front and back in the same way
Color 45g of sugar paste dark cream using a touch of golden brown food coloring. Roll a ball-shaped nose, then roll the remainder into a ball for the little girl's head. Indent a smile using the circle cutter pressed in at an angle, and dimple each corner using a cocktail stick. Stick the head in position on top of the cake.
Color 125g ( 4oz ) of sugar paste mauve, 22g ( 1/4 oz ) green, 60g ( 2oz ) pink, 30g ( l oz ) cream, and the remaining piece of yellow. Roll out some different colored pieces and position the cake around the girl's head, encouraging each piece to lie in folds. For the dress, smooth pleats with your fingers on a long, thick piece of mauve sugar paste. Drape over the front of the basket then pushes in the tip of a cocktail stick to mark the pattern.
To make the tasseled scarf, cut a strip of blue sugar paste, then make little cuts at each end cutting downwards without pulling or the tassel will break. Create feather boas by rolling sausages of sugar paste, then snipping up rows of little points using sharp scissors.
USEFUL TIP
You can use foam pieces to support the modeled fruit in their poses and remove them when dry.
